A strong portfolio case study does more than show final screens. It tells the story of how you approached a problem, made decisions, and arrived at a solution. Start by framing the problem with clear context: who the users were, what the business needed, and what constraints existed. Walk through your research and discovery phase, explaining what you learned and how it shaped your direction. Show iterations and explain why you moved away from certain ideas. Include collaboration moments where you worked with engineers, researchers, or stakeholders. End with outcomes and measurable impact wherever possible. Avoid showing only polished mockups without explanation. Hiring managers want to see your thinking, not just your visual output. Be honest about tradeoffs and what you would do differently next time.
